Henry Gomez first walked into our roastery back in 2017, our eyes perked up as we discovered his coffee heritage. Henry comes from a 4th generation family-run farm in Colombia in the foothills of the Tatama Natural Reserve. He moved away and found love in Europe, however he never lost his love for his roots in the coffee growing hills he grew up in.

After a few years of travelling back and forth, tasting, scoring and deliberating changes and improvements to the quality of his farm’s coffee – it simply wasn’t enough for him to just focus on his own coffee. Henry’s community of producers he works with, many of whom inherited their farms, are Henry’s childhood friends. Henry works continuously to support this community offering more money to the produces so they may reinvest in their own infrastructure.

We are delighted to be offering three coffees from Henry Gomez.

One of them is our first Gesha varietal. It comes from La esperanza farm and the producer is Jose Nabor Ramos. This coffee is a mouthwatering burst of tropical fruits, mango, papaya and bergamot. It is honey processed which means that the berries are fermented in open barrels for 24hrs then pulped and put in open bags and further fermented for 80 hours; then sun-dried between 12 to 16 days (depending on the weather conditions)

We also offer another honey process, Castillo Rosario. Its producer is Alfredo Castaño. Introduced to Henry Gomez back in 2018, Alfredo is a young producer and he runs the family farm, which is on the edge of the Tatama National Reserve.

Finally, we offer a washed Regional coffee composed of three varieties: Castillo, Colombia and Caturra. This coffee’s producer is part of Asocafe Tatama, 180 quality-driven farmers in the Santuario municipality In 2017, the farmers of Santuario were winners in a Risaralda-wide quality competition thanks to their coffee’s sweet, floral, and fruity notes.
