Brew Guide: French Press
Tools you will need
- French Press
- Pouring Kettle
- Digital Scale
- Timer
- Stirring Utensil
Ingredients
- 45g of coarsely ground filter coffee
- 750ml of Water
Brew Time
- 4/12 – 5 Minutes
1.
Traditionally you need a ratio of 60g of coffee for every 1 litre of water, so start by calculating your coffee ratio in relation to the size of your cafetiere.
2.
Pre heat your cafetiere with boiling water. Then discard that water, weigh out the appropriate amount of ground coffee into your cafetiere, and tare your scales.
3.
Start the timer and pour half of the required brewing water onto the coffee in the cafetière or enough to wet all the grounds, stirring to sufficiently immerse all of the coffee in the brewing water. then leave to bloom for 30-45 seconds
4.
Leave the plunger off the cafetière and let the coffee brew for 4 minutes, then give it a final stir to knock the crust back into the brew.
5.
If you prefer a cleaner cup, scoop off any foam from the surface of the liquid with a tablespoon.
6.
Insert the plunger and press down gently. Pour the brewed coffee very slowly to limit the amount of grounds/sediment in your cup.
7.
Sit back and enjoy your brew
Hint : Grind finer if the coffee tastes too acidic, grind coarser if it’s too bitter.
