Description

It’s that time of year again folks! For our annual festive offering this year we’ve decided to put together a beautiful 60 / 40 blend of a washed Colombian and a natural process from Myanmar which we’re excited to share with you all.

The first component of this blend is made up of washed regional varieties from Tatamá National Park in Santuario, Risaralda north west Colombia. As you would expect from a washed Colombian coffee, it’s pleasantly clean with rich stone fruit acidity, and was the ideal first choice when putting this blend together.

We decided to pair this with a beautifully complex Red Catuai from A Lel Chaung Village, Ywangan in Shan State, eastern Myanmar. We’re constantly intrigued by the sheer variety of flavours waiting to be discovered within this particular coffee. The lingering almond sweetness really shines through in the aftertaste when combined with the Colombian coffee in this blend.

After tasting several different blend ratios, we felt that a 60% Colombia / 40% Myanmar mix was the best way to let each individual coffee’s qualities shine through, as well as complement one-another. Mellow stone fruit acidity develops into hints of warm spice, and linger on the pallet with a clean, smooth mouthfeel; leaving you with a sweet, tea-like finish. This is a balanced and comforting coffee; perfect to brew up on Christmas morning, or as a welcome little refresher after polishing off your Christmas dinner…or maybe as a much needed pick-me-up on New Year’s Day after overdoing it the night before.
